beyond the classroom

Discover our carefully designed learning spaces that spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and encourage exploration, all within a secure and supportive environment.

makerspace

The Makerspace is a vibrant hub where children access tools and materials to invent, tinker, create, and design. This dynamic space allows children to work independently or collaboratively, transforming ideas into tangible projects.

Engagement in the Makerspace fosters critical skills such as problem-solving, resilience, and logical thinking, while significantly enhancing creative capabilities. It's a place where challenges are embraced, and persistence is cultivated.

Laura Fleming, the author of "Worlds of Making," aptly describes a makerspace: “A makerspace is a metaphor for a unique learning environment that encourages tinkering, play, and open-ended exploration for all.”

play area

The play area offers a vibrant space for children to engage in unstructured, open-ended play that fosters physical, social, and emotional development.

In the sand pit, children hone their fine motor skills and sensory awareness as they dig, scoop, and mold—creating intricate castles and elaborate tunnels. This hands-on activity not only entertains but also enhances their cognitive abilities.

Beyond the sand, the broader play area allows children to run, climb, and leap, promoting strength, coordination, and confidence. Each movement is an opportunity to grow stronger and more assured.

Socially, the play area is a dynamic environment where children learn to interact. They build friendships, navigate conflicts, and collaborate on projects, enriching their emotional intelligence and social skills. These interactions are crucial for developing empathy, a sense of community, and a positive self-image.

Together, these shared experiences in the play area lay the groundwork for lifelong healthy relationships and a deep-seated feeling of belonging.

reading & roleplay room

At Openhouse, we cherish the power of reading as a foundational element of learning. It’s essential for children to first learn to read so that later, they can read to learn. Children are invited to fall in love with the world of books, which opens the door to endless adventures and learning opportunities. This space is designed not only to build literacy but also to foster curiosity and critical thinking.

Simultaneously, the room transforms into a stage for imaginative play. Equipped with realistic props, costumes, and themed play areas, it encourages children to explore roles from running a restaurant to commanding a space mission, or even managing a hospital. This blend of reading and role-playing enriches children’s language skills, enhances their problem-solving capabilities, and nurtures emotional intelligence, all of which are crucial for their future academic and personal achievements.

In this space, every book read and role played builds a bridge to new worlds of possibility, with boundless opportunities for growth and discovery.

atelier

The term 'Atelier' is French for 'art studio' or 'workshop.' At Openhouse, our Atelier is crafted as a space that embraces spontaneous creativity, experimentation, and expression. It's equipped with a diverse array of resources that promote the free expression of ideas.

In this thoughtfully designed environment, children have access to a variety of materials, tools, and open-ended experiences that facilitate self-discovery, innovation, and personal growth. The Atelier features everything from paintbrushes and clay to natural elements and recycled treasures, all selected to ignite imagination and foster artistic expression.

Designed to encourage both collaboration and individual creativity, the Atelier allows children to work alongside peers on joint projects or explore new ideas independently, making it a dynamic hub for artistic and creative development.

movement studio

Our Movement Studio at Openhouse is a dynamic space dedicated to fostering physical activity, coordination, and expressive motion. Designed to encourage both structured and spontaneous movement, the studio is equipped with a variety of tools and equipment that support a wide range of physical activities.

In this energizing environment, children can explore different forms of movement, from dance and yoga to gymnastics and free play. Each element within the studio is carefully chosen to inspire exploration and enhance motor skills, agility, and physical confidence.

The Movement Studio is not just about physical activity; it's a place where children can express themselves through movement, discover new abilities, and collaborate with peers. It serves as a vibrant arena for children to push their boundaries, develop discipline, and celebrate the joy of moving in new and exciting ways.
